Owned by Dewayne Forbis, the station once again offers both AM & FM
broadcasting from its 1130 S. Dixie Street location in Horse Cave.
Their new station – 101.7 FM – went live on June 15th, 2016. Dewayne
began in radio while still in high school, and through the guidance and
training of then station owner Jim Berry, Dewayne decided to make it his
career. At the passing of Berry, the station went off the air for a
few years, but in 1998 Dewayne, along with a group of investors, bought
the station and moved it to Horse Cave. Unfortunately, the FM sector of
WLOC was no longer available; therefore, they had to proceed as an AM
station only. In 2003, Forbis and his late wife, Carol, assumed sole
ownership of the station; they also began to explore additional ways to
expand, not only their coverage, but services to listeners and purchased
99.1 FM. They sold that station last fall. Their new FM station
features an early morning talk show from 6 a.m. - 8 a.m. called Studio
101 Live featuring Forbis, along with Chris Jessie and Lori Houchens.
The new station also offers a mix of music including country, oldies, a
gospel hour, and adult contemporary.
