Description of Services: The Hart County Public Library is an information and learning center, providing all citizens with access to current and popular materials. The library works closely with other agencies and organizations in order to be a community activities center. Emphasis is on creating excitement about reading and life long learning. Our services include:

Community Meeting Room: Meeting room available to community groups, reservation only. Seats 120, equipped with lectern, piano, public address system, and audio-visual equipment. Adjacent to fully-equipped kitchen.

Photocopying: 25 cents per page; machine enlarges and reduces.

Free Reference & Information Service: If assistance is needed in finding information, the staff will help. Telephone information service is available by calling - (270) 524-1953.

Interlibrary Loan: Materials not available at the library may be obtained through on-line interlibrary loan service.

Genealogy Section: A special section is devoted to genealogical materials and Kentucky Collections.

Exhibits: Featuring local artist and craftsmen as announced.

A-V Equipment: Includes filmstrip projector, slide projector, screen, cassette recorder, and overhead projector. Available for 48 hours loan period. Equipment Agreement must be signed.

Collections: The library has over 32,000 books in their collection, in addition to magazines, newspapers, reference materials, videocassettes, and audio cassettes.

Programs: Story Hour is held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. for children 3 yrs. to school age. The Summer Reading Program is held during June and July for children ages 4 - 12 yrs.

Bookmobile: The Bookmobile serves the schools, makes community stops, and serves shut-ins throughout the entire county on a two-week cycle.

Computers: Free access to the Internet using three computers devoted to that purpose.

FAX: $1.00 per page.

Books can be returned during library hours or at the book drop, located on the street at the side of the building, after hours. Audiovisual materials may not be returned in the book drop. Over due fines are $1 per day for videocassettes and 5 cents per day on books.
